Breana Bey begins the season in style in Brunell win
Stetson University graduate Breana Bey started her professional basketball career at the weekend by top-scoring for Super League side Singleton SuperValu Brunell as they opened their season with a 58-47 victory over the Portlaoise Panthers. We caught up with Bey after the game and asked her how she felt the game went, “I felt like the game was great, for it to be our first game we showed plenty of improvement from our preseason games, and the game is much faster. I’m still trying to adjust to the referees as they’re calling fouls and specially with the shot clock. Other than that the game was great. My team-mates were great, we had good ball movement with everyone sharing the ball and helping each other as a team should.” Most people know Bey’s story by now, as she came back from being shot 3 years ago when Breana and a friend were walking home to Salem-Lafayette from a corner store when two people in hooded sweatshirts opened fire.
