Manning hopes Éanna can keep the momentum going

Éanna’s Tamron Manning has begun the season in exceptional form, top-scoring in all 3 games so far, and then dropping a whopping 31 points at the weekend in their big 95-75 win over DCU Saints.

That victory followed on from their fantastic win over Super League Champions Black Amber Templeogue the previous week, as Pat Glover’s side look to improve on their 9th place finish last season.

Manning, a 6’ 5” point-guard said it was a tough game against DCU, “The game went really good. DCU is a scrappy, tough team and we had to bring our best game on the night to beat them.”

“No matter how much you get ahead of them they will not stop fighting which makes for a tough game.”

With many new faces at the club this season, including himself, Manning is delighted with the way things are developing, “This is all new to us since half our team was not on the team last year. Winning two games in a row is a big deal though and we are hoping to keep that momentum we have going.”

“I believe our team is playing great basketball right now. We still have so much we can improve on as well.”

He’s settled quite well since arriving in Ireland, but is finding out that the Irish weather takes plenty of getting used to, “The country is nice, everyone is friendly and it makes being away from home a little easier. Weather isn't that great (laughs) but I'm getting used to that.”

As for his own game, he feels that things are moving in the right direction, “Personally I feel like my play has been pretty good so far. I'm still getting use to my team-mates and learning how each one of them can best help us win.”

“As the point guard I have to be in tune with everyone on the court. I am doing a good job so far with picking the right times to score and when to set my team-mates up.”
